Demi Chao – Accompanist

“Demi is a pianist, conductor, and choral enthusiast who believes strongly in building community and connecting with fellow humans through music and storytelling.

Her career as a collaborative pianist began at the age of 13 through the Coastal Sound accompanist training program, under the direction of Morna Edmundson and Barry Yamanouchi. Since then, she has collaborated with various choirs, vocalists, and instrumentalists throughout the Lower Mainland. Demi holds a master’s degree in choral conducting from UBC under the tutelage of Graeme Langaer, as well as a bachelor’s degree in piano from UBC under the instruction of Terence Dawson.

Demi currently works in arts administration at an education centre in Coquitlam that strives to make quality arts education affordable and accessible, and owns a small but heartful greeting card business. After a short hiatus from the world of music, Demi is excited to be making music again with the wonderful musicians of DCS.”
